Psychology / Mental Health

A clinical neuropsychologist specializes in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological, medical, and psychiatric disorders that affect cognition using evidence-based practices. Clinical neuropsychologists work with clients to understand and address brain-behavior relationships by evaluating cognitive functions like memory, attention, language, and problem-solving using standardized testing and observations. They help determine the underlying causes of cognitive difficulties and develop and implement treatment plans to improve cognitive function and address behavioral challenges. Common conditions often treated by clinical neuropsychologists include acquired and traumatic brain injury, concussion and its protracted recovery, and other neurological disorders, as well as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and other psychiatric conditions that may have cognitive components.
